One of the most wonderful abilities that God gave to mankind, is the ability to create. After all, this ability comes straight from God. He was, and still is the Master Creator.

The dictionary has many different definitions for the word "create." They are,to make, or cause to be, or to become. Another is, to bring into existence, and lastly, to pursue a creative activity, or to create by artistic means."

God's creating abilities fall into the first two definitions, while we create using the last definition. Our abilities are by creative and artistic means, while God's ability to create is infinite.

There are few things as gratifying as making something from nothing. I enjoy taking a blank piece of paper, or a canvas and watching it take shape into an image that until now, has only been in my mind. We've been given the ability to create and with that ability comes many different and inventive ways to use it.

Of course, God is the best at making something out of nothing. His abilities fall into a totally different realm than ours. He took a world in chaos and made it a beautiful and livable land. He used dirt and bone to create life. God hung the moon and stars and also created the animals and the wonders of nature that we see each day. God used His creative ability to make a world and a universe. God's ability to create far surpasses our own, but we can still enjoy creating.

A seamstress can take a piece of fabric and make clothing, or curtains. Their  hands are skilled enough to make that piece of fabric into something beautiful,  or useful. A musician can compose music that touches our souls. Others have the voice of an angel and they lift our spirit, when we hear them sing. Some people create wonderful images with their words. The list is endless. There is great satisfaction in the things we are able to create. Of course, one of our  greatest abilities is to create another life. God gave us this ability to create a new life with someone we love. It is something special that He shared with us.

My grandmother was a woman ahead of her time. When she and my grandfather would move to a different home, it was always she that would build and add extra cabinets, if needed, or she would build a closet for their clothes. She had the skills of a carpenter, they weren't taught, it was just her ability to createsomething from nothing.

When we create there is a great sense of satisfaction. Crafting is a million-dollar industry, so people definitely love to create. There is feeling of accomplishment,when we make something from nothing. It might be something as simple as keeping a beautiful yard, or making sure that our car is kept clean and polished. Whatever it is, it is a trait that we received from God. Our creations may be small in comparison to the creations of God, but they are a part of us, just as creating is a part of Him.

In the first chapter of Genesis, after God has created something wonderful, it says,and God saw that it was good. God knew that the things that He created were special and He was pleased with them. We may not create things that would mean much to someone else, but they are an expression of ourselves. I think when God created, it was an expression of Himself and He felt that same sense of satisfaction knowing that the things He created were good.

Creating something out of nothing is an ability that even God enjoyed. Use your creative abilities, whatever they are, because they are a gift from God.
